After thoroughly recovering from previous adventure, YHC decided to tackle another hike at a higher elevation (since 5k above normal isn’t enough it seems). As a result of terrible local traffic YHC arrived to hike spot later than expected but decided to press forward anyways. After a long (and equally painful) climb, YHC decided to do a small loop at the top of a peak and found an overhang with STUNNING views. After a quick water break YHC started forward again but decided to turn back at a 25 degree climb with loose dirt/gravel and nowhere to stop a very painful and almost certainly deadly drop to bottom of canyon. After reaching original fork again, YHC continued on with original (and far less fatal) loop, where he met some very nice LDS mountain bikers going opposite direction at a beautiful overlook and had a nice conversation. After noticing the rapidly sinking sun (and equally long distance down said mountain) YHC decided to incorporate a shuffle in order to make it back to start point before sunset. Due to lack of sunlight YHC was forced to slow to a walk to avoid tripping on roots that were difficult to see, and resort to cell phone flashlight at the very end. After apparently beating LDS bikers to the bottom due to shorter distance down (hopefully they made it down safely) YHC drove home in darkness for a MUCH needed shower (no post workout meal since it’s so late) final distance was 8.7 miles with an overall elevation gain of 1,365 feet from approximately 6,052 to 7,443 feet above sea level.
