It’s Boy Scouts summer camp week at Camp Powahatan in Hiwassee, Virginia in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
@FIC worked out when we were on the USS Yorktown a few months ago and came back for more punishment. @YearbookQueen (name subject to change) came in hot to do a chunk of the workout, but we’ll get to formally naming him in a headlock back home in New Bern.

We knew time was tight for our 0600 endeavor so we jumped into it!
The Thang:
At the amphitheater/fire circle, we used the elevation to test us….
3 Burpees at the bottom
Run to the top step- 10 Merkins- Run back down
3 Burpees at the bottom
Run to 2nd from the top step- 10 Merkins- Run back down
We did this for all 25 flights.
@FIC ADDED baby carrying his ruck with scuba weights in it for added oomph!
@YearbookQueen did about half of this portion of the workout, hung tough, and had good Burpee form!
All told, this amounted to:
25 flights run (but shorter/easier each round)
75 Burpees
250 Merkins
>From there, we went to Lake Powhatan for the Camp Swim Test:
1. Jump in with full submersion
2. Swim 75 yards forward stroke of your choice
3. Swim 25 yards backstroke
4. Float for a few seconds
This was remarkably hard coming shortly after the beatdown! Thankful for the many Scouts doing their swim test which gave us a breather!

We counted, named, and prayed, asking for good graces while at camp this week!
