Ruck It BackBlast – Bridge Ops

A Pax of 6 broke free from the fartsack this morning and made their way to an alternate Ruck It AO – the Pedestrian Bridge over Hwy 70 in James City.  McRib brought an FNG, Griffin Dodd from Black Mountain.  McRib said something about the sharing of children over the holidays or something.  In any event, once gathered, the QIC gave the Mission Statement and Disclaimer and then explained how the morning would unfold.  Welcome Gander for his virgin Ruck It.

THE THANG – Phase 1

Starting at the base of the pedestrian bridge, one Pax would carry (in addition to his ruck) a 40 lb. sandbag up, across & down the other side.  Once all Pax were down, the sandbagging Pax would perform 10x sandbag cleans while the remaining Pax would assume the Plank position.  Rinse & Repeat back up, across & down to the beginning where the 10x sandbag cleans and Plank would also be repeated.  Once this two-section cycle was complete, the sandbag was taken up by a new Pax and Phase 1 would continue until all Pax had a complete turn.  Pax with the sandbag would set the tone for the cycle.  Double Dipper double-timed it up the steps and across.  Gander did a Rocky impersonation by taking the steps 2 at a time.  McRib went backwards up & down the ramps.  Mr. Roboto and YHC did a standard climb up & down the steps.  FNG, who apparently enjoys mountain runs, etc., did a flat-out sprint for his turn.  YHC tried to give a gentle reminder to FNG that typically folks modify to decrease difficulty, not to increase it.  After all 6 Pax had a turn, we had time for a bonus traverse with YHC taking the first leg over.  Double Dipper led the way back with a route up the ramp, a disheartening pause at the bridge before going back down and returning up the steps before moving back to the starting point.
