Wednesdays are usually packed. But I guess the rain/threat of rain kept the pax locked down in the fartsack. However, a hearty pax of 9 braved the possibilities to post on what turned out to be a great morning. The rain stopped and we got started with an impromptu Q by YHC.

Kotters to Bangkok, Acolyte and Purdy Mouth – glad to have y’all back with us. Also, welcome to FNG – Dr. Teeth (aka Brandon Daniels). Schrute making the rest of us look like we are hoarding all the goodness of F3. Reach out to new, bring back the old – keep talking it up!

Red Light, Green Light

  • When: 01/27/20
  • QIC: Gander
  • The Pax: Shrute, Double Dipper, Mr. Roboto, BitCoin, FNG K-2SO, Gander (QIC)

A pax of 6 including an FNG – welcome K-2SO (Star Wars fan who has recently been reprogrammed to be the dad of twins)! The disclaimer was recited with a high amount of accuracy.

Warm-o-Rama

We started rucking.

The Thang

A direct knock-off of Peeping Tom’s traffic light Qs, we headed West on S. Front St. As we entered the block containing the traffic light, we followed a general pattern as follows:

  • East/West Streets: green – ruck; yellow – lunge walk; red – plank
  • North/South Streets: green – ruck; yellow – lunge walk; red – Al Gore

Continued to Metcalf and then a right on Pollock. Reaching S. Front St and no traffic light in sight, we Snake-rucked to the traffic circle and then headed West on Broad St. Flummoxed by a blinking yellow light at Craven St, an extended lunge walk was called and midwife noises commenced. An audible was called and the lunge walk was shortened. The pace quickened as time was running out, so we rucked up to Metcalf with the final traffic light being used was at Pollock/Metcalf. We rucked back to the gazebo with intermittent double time to keep our time right.

  • QIC: Gander
  • The Pax: Doubler Dipper, Little Dipper, Kevorkian, Paddington, Morning, Plan B, Winthorpe, II Fingers

9 hearty souls posted this beautiful morning with the added bonus of being 4 degrees warmer than forecast – a balmy 36 degrees. No FNGs, so we got into it straight away with:

Warm-o-Rama

  • SSH 4CICx20
  • Sun Gods 4CICx10, reverso
  • Carrot Pickers 4CICx10
  • Downward Dog
  • Quad Stretches

The Thang

We moseyed via the entrance to the student parking lot and stopped at the overhang for the following:

  • Calf Raises SCx50 OYO
  • Step Climb Merkins – Up & Down
  • Rail Climb
  • Pickle Pointers on the boxes 4CICx25
  • Rinse & Repeat

We then moseyed toward the track but were stymied by a locked gate, so an audible was called back to the driveway for:

  • LBCs SCx20 OYO
  • 50 yd mosey to tennis courts – locked gate again
  • LBCs SCx20 OYO
  • 50 yd mosey back
  • Freddie Mercurys SCx20 OYO
  • 50 yd mosey back
  • Freddie Mercurys SCx20 OYO

We then moseyed to the band practice field for the main event. A trifecta of coupons awaited the pax with a brief explanation of each item as it relates to raising house. 6″x6″x4′ oak cribbing logs, 8″x8″x16″ masonry blocks and bricks (actually pavers for more weight). Each coupon was placed about 40 yards apart with the instructions as follows:

  • Cribbing to be used for a weighted Lunge Walk
  • Masonry Blocks to be pulled along in a Bear Crawl
  • Pavers for Overhead Presses in Lt. Dans (3 presses per cycle)

This was repeated until the coupons made their way around the triangle until they were returned to their original location. This allowed each pax to do each exercise twice. We then rinsed and repeated as requested by Winthorpe. This turned out to be a strong workout for the legs and shoulders. Great performance by the pax – I think everyone will be thinking of me tomorrow as they attempt to raise their arms or sit down.

We returned the coupons to the truck and called it a day – 19 minutes early. Today was the shortest day of the year. Wednesday will be the longest.

Per Morning – no Bushwood on Wednesday – Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the opportunity to lead!
