Lessons Learned – Backblast for the Point

16 men came out to get better on what turned out to be a mighty fine morning.

Warm-a-rama:

A quick exit this morning from the gaz-ay-bo for a lap around the park and then into the grass for:

  • Imperial Walkers x15 IC
  • Arm Circle Thingys (Sun Gods) x10 IC
    • Right off the bat, 2 Lessons Learned:
      1.  Remember the names of the exercises being led.
      2.  Q only counts 1,2,3. Pax counts the rest.
  • Cotton Pickers x10 IC
  • Windmills x10 IC
  • Michael Phelps x10 IC (Lessons Learned: Some exercises are better done OYO.)

Thang: Take a Lap and meet at Corner 3 for WMD mania.

  • Werkins, Merkins, Diamond Merkins x12 each, SC.
    • Take a Lap with a sprint on section 3.
  • Werkins, Merkins, Diamond Merkins x10 each, SC.
    • Another Lap with a sprint on section 3.
  • Werkins, Merkins, Diamond Merkins x8 each, SC (Lessons Learned: Gracefully allow another Pax to lead and finish the count to 8 when the Q gets jelly arms, thank you Oz and Lil Wayne)
    • Final Lap with a sprint on section 3.

Staying in Corner 3, Pax completed the following with no breaks in between, aside for next excercise instruction:

  • Squats x20 SC
  • Lunges x20 (10 each leg) SC
  • Drop Lunges x20 (10 each leg) SC
  • Squat Jumps x20 SC
  • Calf Raises x20 IC (Lessons Learned: Apparently, some other exercise are best done OYO as well.) OYO

Move over to grass near bridge to avoid being “street cleanered” for some Partner work.

3 rounds of:

  • Leg throws – Left x5, Middle x5, Right x5
  • Hammys x10
  • Partner (kissing) Rows x8

Shuffle down the field a bit for an “outlined on the Weinke but not explicitly laid out” round of Plankicides. Partner A planks while Partner B runs to the 1st tree (Lessons Learned: Be more descriptive with instructions as there are numerous interpretations of what 1st might mean) nearest tree to us when facing the gazebo, backwards run back to partner. Flip flop and Partner B now planks while Partner A runs to nearest tree with backwards run back to partner. Rinse and repeat to the middle tree and then again to farthest tree.

Pax then bear crawled (Lessons Learned: Notify Pax when changing the format from partner work to OYO) to the first tree toward gazebo, lunge walked to second tree, then All You Got back to the gazebo for:

Mary:

  • Low Slow Flutter x15 IC
  • Freddie Mercurys x10 IC
  • LBCs x20 IC

McRib on Q for the Bear tomorrow.

Moleskin:
Thank you for the opportunity and honor to lead this morning. Clearly there is always room to make mistakes, grow, learn, and get better everytime I Q, so thank you for letting me get all trial and error on you guys, and for your support while I work on getting better everyday. And more thanks to you guys for getting better with me. Seriously. The best part for me about all this is that it happens, at least in my mind, almost in the guise of just going outside to play with friends. And I show up because you guys are going to show up. And we’re all going to have fun. I mean, it’s hard work, but just because it’s hard doesn’t mean that it’s not fun. So, thanks. And if you’ve gotten this far, thanks for reading my ramblings.

Peace ~ Roboto
