  • The Pax: WinthorpE, Gander, Doorknob, Black Dog, 420

A small but enthusiastic pax of 5 showed up at the Dirty Bird this morning.  The expected thunderstorms and showers did not materialize but it was another 70 degree morning with plenty of humidity in the air.  How many do we have left II Fingers?  We started with:

Windmills IC x10, Frankensteins IC x10, SSH’s IC x 25, Mt Climbers IC x25 and WinthorpE Stretches OYO.  We then moseyed 1.5 laps around the school and met at the tennis courts for

The Thang:  YHC reached into his past Q bag having decided to Q at the last minute.  A workout from over a year ago at the Bushwood tennis courts.  The issue.  Bushwood has two tennis courts side by side while The Dirty Bird has four.  As the pax was to remind YHC four is more than two.

Round 1.  Burpee Dans.  1 Burpee followed by 4 lunges (two each leg), repeato across all four courts.  Coming back  across the courts it was 2 Burpees followed by 4 lunges.  BTTW for the 6.

Finished off round 1 with a suicide using each courts far doubles line only.

Round 2.  Bearpees.  1 Burpee followed by a 6 count bear crawl, repeato across all four court.  Coming back across the courts it was 2 Burpees follow by 6 count bear crawl.  Al Gore for the 6.

Another Suicide

Round 3.  Burpee Broad Jumps.  1 Burpee followed by 4 broad jumps, repeato across all four courts.  Coming back 2 Burpees followed by 4 broad jumps, repeato.  Had to modify to three courts coming back due to breathing issues.

Another Suicide.

YHC had planned an Escalator next but time would not allow so some of it was incorporated into Mary.

Mary:  Werkins ICx15, Groiners ICx15, Freddie Mercury’s ICx20, Dying Cockroach OMUx30, LBC’s OMUx40 Squat Jumps OYOx20

YHC forgot name-o-rama but did close in prayer.  Pleasure to lead gentlemen-fine work this morning.

A Pax of 19 showed up on an unusually dry morning to get the week started off right.  There were no FNG’s so YHC jumped into SSH’s IC x 25; Downward Dog OYO; Oz Stretches OYO due to YHC’s inability to balance and count at the same time; and Cotton Pickers IC x 10.

The Pax then formed up for what turned out to be a very spirited Snake Run taking the long Loop  around to the Garber lot where we stumbled onto a group of women setting up to work out…hmm we’ve been here before.  WinthorpE was gracious enough to reach out and make sure we wouldn’t be bothering anyone and we proceeded in Laps.

Lap #1-Sprint 1st leg and Mosey legs #2, #3, and #4.  Back at the corner 30 Sumo Squats IC.

Lap#2-Sprint 1st and 2nd leg and Mosey legs #3 and #4.  Back at the corner 20 Merkins IC

Formed up for another Snake Run  around the Country Club Loop

Rinse and Repeat Laps.

Pax then Moseyed back to Employee Lot at Club for Mary:

Low Slow Flutter IC x 25; Dying Cockroach IC x 50 and finished with 100’s.

YHC closed in Prayer.

Gentlemen thank you for allowing me to lead this morning and for helping to continue to push me!  Two Fingers on Bushwood.

Another run at the Second Son and down One

  • When: 05/26/18
  • QIC: 420
  • The Pax: McRibb, Plan B, Roll Tide, Honey Wagon, Ingrown, Unicorn, Harris Teeter, 420

A Pax of 8 gathered at the Bear on a warm and getting warmer morning to take another run at The Second Son a year later.  After a suggestion to just chat instead of making a go at it was seriously considered, we decided to jump in.

Windmills IC x10, SSH’s IC x30, Down Dog stretching OYO, Hillbillies IC x20

We moved to the big bus lot for some Catch Me if You Can.  The plan was to partner up and run four laps.  The first two with Pax A backpeddling while Pax B did 4 burpees and sprinted to catch up the flapjack.  The second two laps were the same except for 6 diamond merkins instead of burpees.  First two laps went fine but just over half way through lap #3 McRibb took a serious header as he packpeddled over Roll Tide who was performing Diamond Merkins.  McRibb took a nasty fall and came away with a damn big goose egg and cut.  He is fine but must of us normal mortals would have been in some serious trouble.   YHC will in the future make sure that lanes for CMIYC are clearly assigned-my bad McRibb.  The Pax collected itself after we sent McRibb packing and finished up.

Next up was Wall of Worms-BTTW with a 5 movement shuffle left, then right, then walk down the wall then back up for a 10 count.  We then moseyed across the big lot to some shade for 11 Rounds of Deconstructed Burpees.  We started with 11 Squats, 11 leg thrusts, 11 merkins and 11 more leg thrusts and then moved down to 10, 9, etc. all In Cadence so as not to allow for any slippage that seemed to occur the prior year.  This was a real crowd pleaser and required mutilple 10 counts to get through.

Next we moseyed to the covered area for an Escalator to 8:  Box Jumpsx10, Derkinsx20, Groinersx30, Imp Walkersx40, Squatsx50, Lungesx60, LBC’sx70 and Calf Raisesx80.

Finally back to the big lot for an attempt at 7’s using Burpees and Surfer Merkins-the idea was for two laps total with stops along the way to complete the 7’s.  Unfortunately the heat got us and it was called after the first lap and we headed to:

Mary:  Dying Cockroach IC x30 and Star Man courtesy of Ingrown.

No announcements and we closed in prayer with the Jutress Family, McRibb and our Veterans on our minds.

Gentlemen as always thank you for allowing me to lead and have a safe weekend

420Day

  • When: 04/20/18
  • QIC: 420
  • The Pax: Unicorn, Stickbuilt, Pyro, UTC, Acolyte, Bite Coin, Gander, Peeping Tom, Lil Wayne, Oz, McRibb, Flanksteak, Goose, Plan B, 420

A Pax of 15 showed up on a beautiful but still chilly morning at The Point.  When YHC signed up to Q a couple of weeks ago no notice was taken of the date; however once the coincidence was noted it could not be ignored.  YHC strived to put together a workout that would leave the Pax Dazed and Confused…let’s see how it went.

No FNG’s this morning so we jumped in with a few Nuggets of warm-o-rama including Cotton Pickers IC x10, Sun Gods IC x20, and Michael Phelps OYO to loosen up the shoulders.  Then we Blazed a trail to the warehouse where YHC opted to forgo the Baked clay and instead had everyone grab a cinder block each and meet in the adjacent parking lot to start The Thang:  4 Sets of 20.

At station #1:  20 Elf on Shelf, 20 Irkens, 20 Curls, 20 American Hammers all with blocks.  In need of a new Joint we moseyed to the Sudan Temple with blocks in tow where we found a wall on the Left Handed side for station #2:  20 Derkins, 20 People’s Chair w/Chest Press, 20 People’s Chair w/Overhead Press, 20 Lunges w/Side Throws.  Next in need of some Green for station #3 we moseyed to the field past the traffic circle for 20 Blockees, 20 Calf Raises, 20 Dying Cockroaches with block extended, and 20 Box Jumps-in an effort to be Kind YHC found a very low wall for this one.  At this point Peeping Tom started throwing large objects into the river.  Not sure what he was trying to do, maybe start an artificial Reef…er something.   Next we Lit out for station #4 which was in a Dank area of the parking lot by City Hall for:  20 Lion Kings, and hating to Re-Up but out of new exercises, 20 Irkins, 20 Curls and 20 People’s Chair w/Overhead Press.  Now thoroughly in the Weeds on time and with the schedule Fried we skipped station #5 and went straight for station #6:  20 Genuins, 20 Derkins (where Unicorn got to show off those Hog’s Legs he calls arms), 20 American Hammers, and 20 Dying Cockroaches w/block extended.  Cashed we returned the blocks to the warehouse and High tailed it in a jailbreak back to The Point for Mary Jane

Low Slow Flutters IC x20, LBC’s on my up x20, Dying Cockroaches on my up x20, and Box Cutter’s IC x20

So as not to seem that YHC was Bogarting all the fun he reminded everyone that McRibb is on Q for The Bear tomorrow.  YHC closed in prayer.

Strong showing at Pete and Niki’s for Edibles afterward.  YHC’s virgin visit left him feeling like a Fatty.

420 out.

Bushwood Backblast: C

  • When: 03/14/18
  • QIC: 420
  • The Pax: Plan B, Unicorn, 2 Fingers, Oz, Lil' Wayne, Peeping Tom, Gander, Bit Coin, Ingrown, Mr Roboto, Kevorkian, Paddington, 420

A Pax of 13 gathered in much better conditions than predicted at Bushwood to tackle a workout titled “C”.  YHC  offers apologies to the Pax for commenting “good” after noticing that there were no FNG’s.  Obviously FNG’s are needed and welcomed however YHC was anxious to begin the workout.  For Warm-o-rama we had:

Cotton Pickers IC x10; Mt. Climbers IC x10, SSH’s IC x10, Imperial Walkers IC x10 and Burpees OYO x10 followed by a Blue Hawaiian Lap and then back down to the base of 18 for The Thang.  It had been YHC’s plan to keep the workout shrouded in mystery until later but leave it to Unicorn to quickly decipher after the 10 OYO Burpees that my “C” was the Roman Numeral for 100 and that we were doing 100 Burpees.  Clever one that Unicorn is.

The Thang:

Backpedal up the hill and run back x 2 followed by 10 burpees (20) OYO ; Repeato (30)

Lunge up the hill and run back x 2 followed by 10 burpees (40) OYO; Repeato (50)

Take a Blue Hawaiian Lap-then 20 Dips and 75 Calf Raises under the shelter-back to the hill

Bear Crawl up the hill and run back followed by 10 burpees (60) OYO; Repeato (70)

Option of Bear Crawl or Army Crawl up the hill and run back followed by 10 burpees (80)

As no one took the Army Crawl option-Dragon Crawl up the hill and run back followed by 10 burpees (90)

Take a Blue Hawaiian Lap-then 20 Dips, 75 Calf Raises and 5 Burpees (95) followed by Balls to the Wall for a down the line 10 count

Take an extended Blue Hawaiian Lap back to the Employee Lot for Mary:

Monkey Humper’s IC x15, Dying Coachroach x45, Low Slow Flutter x15, and 5 Burpees (100)

For announcements:  Need Q for Bear this Saturday, Spaghetti dinner at Centenary tonight for fundraiser for Ganders M’s mission trip to Haiti, Bridge Run on the 24th and then Adult Pine Wood Derby that night at Yacht Club (see 2 Fingers and/or Oz for info and car kit).

YHC closed in prayer.

Thank you very much gentlemen-we’ve been at it for 1.5 years now and it has made a big difference in my life.  Honored to lead.
